It's me again, the not so frequent poster. Though it may seem this site is dieing a slow death, don't worry I'm not ready to give this up. Not just yet anyhow. It's just that it's taking longer to get used to working at the quarry again. Hell, I'm usually ready to fall asleep by now. Don't know what is keeping me awake tonight. I figure I should be back up to speed in a couple of weeks. Till then I'll try and update whenever I can.I often envisioned moving forward into the future as bringing about advances, but it seems the further into the future we move the further we fall backwards. In other words is it just me or is anyone else contemplating trading their vehicle in for a horse. It is a shame that soon our cars we be nothing more then expensive yard art due to the high cost of fuel, just so the big oil exec's can live a high and mighty lifestyle. Must be rough having to retire on only a four hundred million dollar retirement package. Enough said, I think you get my point.
Ok, it's getting late and I can feel the tiredness invading my body, telling me it's about time for bed.
That's it for now. Later.

Building a retaining wall at work. Working with big concrete blocks such as these I soon discovered can reawaken muscles I had long since forgotten I had.

My impersonation of a very well done lobster after an outing to a baseball game last Saturday afternoon.

Sometimes you can find the perfect spot where you swear you can see to the edge of the world.

However if you're not careful and turn your back just once, it may come rushing at you as though it were Hell itself.

I was really hoping to do some posting here this weekend, but after my first two days back at the rock quarry all I wanted to do is just kinda kick back and relax. I guess working inside these past two years softened me up some. Of course it didn't help that my first two days back it happened to be the hottest days of the new spring....like almost 100 degrees. But give me a few more days and I should be used to it as though I had never left. Ok time to get things ready for work tomorrow before it gets to late.
That's it for now. Later.

Just a real quick update to let you know the wait is over. I am no longer between jobs. Though I have not actually started working again, I did go over today to take the obligatory pre-employment drug screen. Tomorrow I go back to fill out more paperwork and watch some safety videos. I won't get down to doing any actual work till maybe Thursday. And although the break I've had this past week has been nice, it's reassuring to once again have a paycheck coming in.
That's it for now. Later.

More signs of Spring.

Since I am in the in between jobs mode, I was sitting here trying to catch up on some reading. When all of the sudden out of the blue, the tornado sirens started going off. I was like wtf, I knew we were under a tornado watch but it just didn't look that bad out. Yet there they were, both the sirens and the guy on the radio telling me to take cover.Instead I went out onto my front porch looking to the sky trying to see what all the fuss was about. It was cloudy but it still didn't look that bad. I stood there a few minutes when it finally started to rain. It wasn't much after that when the rain picked up along with the wind. Suddenly the rain was no longer coming straight down, but rather going sideways, and the tree in the front yard was bowing almost to the ground. It was then the rain turned to golf ball sized hail pelting everything in sight. All I could think of was my poor car sitting out in it and hoping the damage wouldn't be to bad. Then just as fast as it started, maybe a matter of five minutes or so it was over. Oh, after inspecting the car luckily there was no damage. Nothing like a little excitement to keep the blood flowing.
That's it for now. Later.

Wait, what's this! Yes he does still live. Ok so I've been a little behind in updating. Yeah yeah so who am I kidding I've been way behind in posting. So here goes.I've been sitting here at the apartment most of the day and it's finally setting in, the project at the hospital we've been trying to finish up came to a close today. So no more getting up early to make sure I get through the gate to get to work on time. I'm really kinda sad to see this job come to an end, the work wasn't that hard and a good boss to boot. That in itself is a rare combination. But as it is with any construction project there comes a time to finish and hand it over to the owners and move on. Speaking of which I shouldn't be out of work to long as it looks like I'll be starting out at the quarry next Monday.
When I'm out roaming around with my camera and find something I thing would be a good picture I will usually take several shots. And maybe I'll get one or two good enough for me to use. That's what I did this morning when I came across a skyscape shot. Only thing is all five came out good and I couldn't decide which to post. So I'm posting them all. I'm using blogger to upload these pic's, hopefully it'll work for me. So be sure to click on the pic's to see the larger version and get the full effect of the pictures.
